Exam's finally over. Felt relieve, and at the same time, ANXIOUS about my results. Sigh.
I need a motivation for blogging. Any idea?
Stress. CSO. Exams. Efffffffffffffffffffffff.
Simple talkative day between me and you.
Sweetness is the word.
Love is the key. I love you, Baby. (:
Thank you so much for the money spent to make me happy.
Thank you so much for the Fossil Watch. I love it, VERY MUCH!
I hope you like our new ring, although we can't use it yet. ):
Just came back from my Community Service at Jamiyah Home for the Aged.
9am. When I first step into the Home, the first impression was "Serenity". Everything looks so much in place. I moved on to the office and was introduced by a lady called Sasi to every rules and regulations of the Home. I was also told of my job scope and stuffs. Not too bad, basically I just gotta do those basic maintenance and cleaning of the place, and if the Home Officers need my help, I must render them immediately.
My first task was to sweep leaves into piles before the Assistants working there would clear it up. It was pretty easy, and don't require effort at all (DUH). The only irritation was there's alot of
RED ANTS. Damn those ants, two managed to sneak underneath my shirt and bit me. Irritating!!! Assholes.
After that task was done, it was around 10am. I went to the 2nd floor to help serve the morning tea break to the residents. This was when my first impression was broken. I was always taught and told by the media saying that old folk's home isn't too bad, and they are living happily there. But are they? I scanned through the dining hall, and looked into some of their eyes. All I could gather from them is pain. The pain of their children ditching them into Homes so that they can void their responsibility of taking care of their parents. I couldn't help but feel a surge of sorrow running through my body. After tea break was done, the residents went back to their dormitory for a rest, while the Assistants and us, the volunteers, cleaned the dining hall. Water was splashed, soap was splashed, everything was splashed. Tiles are mobbed and scrubbed, and soon after volunteers are cleaning the hall. The Assistants are paid for the job, but not all of them are not doing! Commanding us all volunteers to perform their tasks, while they watch and scrutinize our every single movement. What is this? Not that I wanna complain about this and that, but at least they could try to help us out with our work? -_- sigh.
12pm. After the dining hall was dried up, it was time for lunch already. I mean, they just had tea break barely 1 hour ago, and they are having lunch already?! Anyway, lunch was a big hoo-ha. There's this group of aunties and uncles that donated a huge buffet lunch for the residents, with a pair of mandarin oranges, a red packet and a towel for each of them. I could see that the residents was pretty delighted with the meal, as they eye gleefully at the buffet lunch non-stop. We helped to serve their ration into equal portions, and those aunties and uncles served the food to each of them, while saying happy new year to them, and awarding them each a red packet. The residents was so happy with this surprise lunch and visit, that most of them stood up and went over to shake the donators' hands, eyes filled with tears of joy. After lunch was done, we helped to clear the place, again. (:
1pm. 3 other volunteers left after lunch. I took my lunch break at the nearby coffee shop beside the Home. Finally I can have a breather. Let's skip the details.
2pm. I went back to the Home, and Sasi assigned me to another Home Officer, Umi. I was assigned with the task of sweeping floor, and leaves (again -_-), all over the Home. I slowly sweeped and walked, and explore at the same time. The dormitory of the residents was pretty nice, at least better than the Army Bunk I used to sleep in. They have pretty good facilities, and the Home was very well lit and had a good deal of breeze. They didn't even have to on the fan to feel cool, but most of them still did.
4pm. OMG? Tea break again, some residents, 3 of them, are having a birthday party. A karaoke was set up, residents and Home Officers were singing like crazy, but mostly Malay songs. Cake was blown, birthday songs were sang in like, I don't know how many languages. There's like Malay, Indians, Chinese, Hokkien, Cantonese, and English birthday songs. It was pretty happening, and I watched a number of residents dancing gracefully in their various style of dance. The only dancer that caught my eye was this old lady, who was doing this Nyonya-like dance, which I had saw in
The Little Nyonya of MediaCorp Channel 8. It was pretty nice. Was glad they had fun. Did cleaning again, and I realise that there are a couple of residents who are super duper nice. Kept helping me out with the cleaning job. Heck with those Assistants. Good for nothing.
5pm. Bored. Slacked all the way to 6pm. Nothing much to do already, as dinner was supposed to be serve at 6pm. I stayed in the dining hall and watch the residents sing their songs, even though I don't understand what are they singing.
There's some random chats I had with the residents there. There's this Malay
Pak-chik telling me about how bad was this Chinese Aunty (who had helped me alot with the cleaning). He claims that she's a
thao-kia, also known as
a snitch. I was told that she snitch on every single thing that was not suppose to be done, be it big or small. Well whatever. It's not my business, so I just listen attentively to the Pak-chik.
Another random chat was with this Chinese Ah-gong. Okay this was very interesting, at least to me. The conversation was done in hokkien.
Ahgong : Li ho boh? (How are you?)
Me: Ah? Ho ah ho ah. (Good!)
Ahgong : Oh.. Li jiak pak buey? (Eaten yet?)
Me: Jiak liao ah, gum xia. *smiles* (Yeah. Thanks)
Ahgong : Ai lim kopi mai? *pulls out a packet of coffee from his button shirt pocket* (Coffee for you?)
Me: Mai ah mai ah, gum sia *smiles* (Oh no need, thanks.)
Ahgong : Sio hoon kee mai? *pulls out a Bi-Di cigarette* (You wanna smoke?)
Me: Wa bo sio hoon kee, gum sia *smiles, again* (I don't smoke, thanks.)
Ahgong : Wa ka li kong ah... *starts mumbling off in hokkien like a rapper* (I tell you ah..)
Me: ??????? *nods furiously*
Ahgong : oasiniownafioanwlkncasklnveiaofdoscpozvnpanvpasnv
Me: ?????? *nods, occasionally saying Yes, Ah, OHHH, YA, Correct, Han-nor and stuffs*
Ahgong : asklnaiocna oicnasioncaiosndklawn fwfn aoinfios naflkn klcnaoin coasdnic asdklcns
ME: ?????????????????????????
I CANNOT UNDERSTAND MAN. But it was about his life story anyway. The conversation was like practically 45mins long. Holy molly.
I guess that's all. I had a long day, and I have a test tomorrow which I haven't study yet. Gotta go, Bye~
First day of CSO ):
1 hours from now I'll be working my ass off for 9 hours at Jamiyah Home for the Aged at Tampines. Not that I'm complaining, but it's the first time I'm volunteering, so I can't help feeling this way. I guess I'll get use to it.
I miss Baby.

Did lunch with Baby after my school end, had Prawnie Beehoon Soup, vv nice! I think I'm gonna fall in love with bee hoon. Hahaha, watched the movie
Pleasure Factory today at home with Baby. Was an abstract movie with very few dialogues. It was set in Geylang, Singapore. Click on the link for more info.
Test coming on Monday, hope I'll be able to excel in it. Been slacking much this entire semester, I gotta buck up before failing my subjects. ): I guess the most stressful subject for me will be Marketing Management, it's my achille's heel. Ohwellz, I must believe in myself!
Gotta go, got 3 assignments and 1 project to do and submit before Sunday! Damned Business Information Systems.
